Beauty overwhelmed by love, love overwhelmed by jealousy. Othello, Desdemona, Iago: passion, love, hate. A traveling show where each scene is set in a different hall of one of the most fascinating Venetian Palaces.
Ca’ Sagredo, the wonderful Venetian Palace on the Grand Canal, takes its name from the last noble Venetian family who has owned and loved it. The façade onto the Grand Canal is proof of the Byzantine origin of the building, which was altered several times in subsequent centuries.
Welcome cocktail upon arrival of the spectators. At the end of the show, l’Alcova Restaurant proposes a dinner with Shakespearean menu at Euro 65,00 per person (beverage not included).

Director’s notes by Solimano Pontarollo
This Othello begins with Shakespeare and his words in original language proceeding then through our vision, interpretation and theatrical and scenic rewriting. Thanks to the work of author Andrea de Manincor, Cassio, the only witness of the tragedy, leads the public, in Italian, through the sequence of occurrences displaying reflections and comparisons.
From Venice to Cyprus, from Othello’s and Desdemona’s master bedroom, there is a progress towards the profound intimacy of the tragedy. We loose ourselves in the emotive turmoil in which Othello is, nourished, bewitched and conquered by Jago. He falls together with all of us. A journey towards the altar of sacrifice where Desdemona, the only Shakespearian heroine capable to stand up against the father figure, will consciously go on accepting her choice until the end.
